Overview:
Union Little League depends on adult volunteer and youth umpires to officiate baseball games. For active players, umpiring can be a great way to enhance your understanding of the rules of baseball and how they are applied in game situations. It is also a fun way to stay involved in baseball if you’re no longer playing. The League’s umpires come from three categories:
1. District Umpires: Volunteer umpires that have been officially certified and/or trained by Little League International.
2. Adult Umpires: Persons 18 and older who have successfully completed a local umpire training clinic or equivalent and passed a required background check. Adult umpires perform without reimbursement.
3. Youth Umpires: Persons 17 years old or younger who have completed a local umpire training clinic. Youth umpires will be compensated for their time or receive community service hours/credits. Youth umpires may umpire A, AA and AAA league baseball games, with the following age restrictions*:
Single A: 11 years old, as of January 1st, 2025 ($20/game)
Double AA: 12 years old, as of January 1st, 2025 ($20/game)
Triple AAA:
- Bases --- 13 years old, as of January 1st, 2025 ($20/game)
- Plate --- 15 years old, as of January 1st, 2025 ($25/game)
Majors: Adult Umpires only
*General rules/guidelines. Ages can vary depending on experience and evaluations.

- AAA: Two umpires, youth or adult. One plate umpire and one base umpire.
- Majors: Two umpires, adult. One plate umpire and one base umpire.
